Whistler Days

Riding in Whistler is a different deal than climbing in Squamish. Instead of living out of the van, we’re in a condo that’s honestly a little nicer than Jen and I feel comfortable with. We have a two-car garage completely full of bikes, and several good friends to ride with. While we probably spent around $200 on a week in Squamish, that doesn’t even get you through a day in Whistler. We have a grill, a shower, a hot tub, and a giant TV with plenty of bike movies to keep up the stoke. But even with all these niceties, Whistler takes a toll on the body.

After a few days of riding we all feel like we just woke up in the gutter after a bar brawl. Everything hurts, and we are all happy to be here. The Whistler bike park is without a doubt the most amazing place I’ve ever ridden, and if you ask anyone who’s been here they’ll tell you the same. You could spend years here and never get tired of the place. As is tradition, everyone pushed themselves and got better. You just can’t help but get better when you ride here.

Everyone did something they had never done before, and everyone paid a price whether it was in bruises, broken bike parts, or broken bones. We’ve all had bad experiences up here, but the good keeps bringing us back again and again regardless of the cost. Now Jen and I are taking a much-needed rest day before heading over to the Sunshine Cost to check out a new zone and ride some more.
