Washer Woman

The White Rim is a place unlike anything else on earth. When Hunter walked to the rim and looked down on the area that contained Standing Rock, he said “this doesn’t even look real.” I’ve climbed two towers down here so far, and I was excited to do a third this weekend.

Washer Woman is a really unique tower. It’s five pitches long, but one of them goes 50-meters straight across an arch to get from the front side of the tower to the end with the summit block. After topping out, you have to do a long free-hanging rappel off the arch. And although I really don’t like rappelling, this one was pretty cool.

After getting down from the tower, Hunter and I decided to drive the rest of the way through the White Rim, which is just shy of 100 miles from pavement to pavement. A lot of it was significantly harder driving than I expected, which made it awesome. Not to mention hours of watching the incredible landscape change in front of you.

Three Star Dryves and a drilled angle. Bomber.
Arches and towers forever.
More and more towers.
This was the view from the road. Literally. I took this from the truck.
