I started off the UTLE Not A Cop Multigun match with a catastrophically bad first stage, dropping 30 points right off the bat and essentially starting in 35th place. At the third stage, I got past a mental hurdle (if you know, you know) and started shooting well again.
By the end I clawed my way back to a division win but came one spot short of the overall match win by half the points I gave up in the first stage. Tyler, a SWAT sniper from Idaho took the top spot, and while I was bummed to not win the whole thing, it makes me happy to know that if I’m being held as a hostage during a bank robbery in Tyler’s home town, the SWAT team is very unlikely to accidentally shoot me in the face. So that’s good.
I want to give a huge shout out to Colby, Jared, and Robert who put on an incredible match for all the law enforcement and civilian competitors. It was one of the best I’ve shot at that range. And a big thanks to all the sponsors including @blackriflecoffee who sent a literal pallet of coffee.
Time for more practice. I still have a way to go before I’m back to my pre-trip performance.
