If you ever want to feel like “How are we all still here?” then go tour the Titan Missile Museum. Just South of Tucson, this silo held a nuclear warhead until the START treaty. Now it holds an inert rocket and allows people to tour the entire facility (including a mock launch, which was drastically less involved than I thought it would have been). I’m really happy that none of these ever left their silos (except the one that accidentally blew up, but managed not to set off the warhead).
