The New

More than any other place, the New River Gorge was the one that got our friends excited. There were a lot of statements like “best cragging in the country” and other glowing compliments. When we got there, we saw why.

The New is incredible. Both the sport and trad routes are everything I like… technical, challenging, and steep. Plus, the landscape is absolutely beautiful. At every crag we visited, we ticked off as many classics as we could and didn’t even scratch the surface.

While we did get in a good amount of climbing, the weather eventually shut us down with days of torrential rain and forced us to move on. We wanted to stay much longer, but we’re very happy to have made the trip to such an awesome place.
