Since today was day six, and we technically climbed two pitches in the rain on day four which means we’ve had no rest days so far, Jen and I decided to be a little lazy. We got up at a rather respectable 8:30(ish) and got out of Vancouver a little after 9:00. On the way we stopped to check out the mining museum which doubled as the alien DNA storage facility on an episode of the X-Files, but we passed on the tour in favor of actually climbing something.
With our sights set on something pretty mellow, we chose to do Skywalker next to Shannon Falls. This extremely popular-with-beginners route was plenty crowded, but we made the most of it by climbing the second-pitch variation and shooting photos of a couple guys we met on the P1 ledge. One of them was on his first day of crack climbing, and I love to see beginners gettin’ after it. On top of the climb we hiked up a little ways and I hopped into the glacial-cold pool for a very refreshing rinse before we headed back to North Van for a short hike and some more Sushi. Up to Whistler.
