The thermometer in Rick’s truck topped out at over 50F on the drive down to Maple canyon, so we were all a bit skeptical that there would be any ice to climb when we got there. Fortunately, our fears were for nothing and conditions were surprisingly good. Jen and I got in a couple fun pitches while Rick and Jess warmed up, and then the whole crew moved over to the Dagger to see what we could do.
Maple isn’t exactly known for solid rock, so each attempt dispatched some holds and brought new ones. So, despite Rick getting his beta figured out for the redpoint attempt, he was back to square one after I went. Sorry buddy.
