Back To Squamish, Again

Jen commented on the drive back into Squamish “It feels like we’re driving home, doesn’t it?” She was right. After so much time up here, this place has become our center. I love everything about it, and I hate the fact that eventually we’re going to have to leave for good.

But, during our week here before heading to Vancouver Island, we got in a few great climbs and got to meet up with a lot of old friends at the Climbing Festival. I’m not generally a climbing festival guy, in fact I kind of hate them. But the one in Squamish is excellent, and I highly recommend attending. In the move lineup this time was a film about the history of Yamnuska from our friend John Price, and he did an incredible job putting together a stunning piece of work.

On the rock side, we re-ticked some old classics, Jen onsighted one of the hardest trad pitches she’s ever done, and I onsighted a 5.12a trad pitch for the first time in several years. We’re both climbing very well, but both nursing some injuries too. Hopefully we can hold the bodies together to take advantage of the fitness for the fall season.
