The 2020 High Desert Championship is officially in the bag. It was a crazy match with giant stages, great competition, and some of the hardest working staff I’ve ever seen. The second day started with a torrential downpour that flooded half the bays and had everyone thinking that we were done for the weekend. Then we saw Aaron Goodfellow rocking the tractor to dig drainage and get us all back on track. The monumental effort by Aaron and all the ROs cannot be understated—my biggest thanks to you all.
Competition at this match was super stiff. After 25 minutes (yes, minutes) of shooting over three days, 1st and 3rd place were separated by just 10 seconds. In the end, I was not able to hold off the consistency of True Pearcewho took home a well deserved win while I finished in 3rd. Mark this date on your calendar for next year. The match just keeps getting better and better, the stages are awesome, and where else can you shoot for 25 minutes on the clock?
A big thanks to all the sponsors who stepped up and supported this match. Especially Eberlestock who hooked up the Stage 10 ROs with sweet packs, and Aero Precision for being the title sponsor and putting complete rifles on the table for nearly every division.
This was also my first chance to run the new Vortex Optics Razor III 1-10 in a big match, and man that thing is awesome. I must warn you though, it does have a learning curve. Kinda like stepping out of a Honda Civic and into a Ferrari. Match lesson posts are coming soon, and there were plenty of things to learn here
